Connect Notion with Verabase
Notion sync pulls pages and databases into a knowledge base so agents can answer from your team's docs.
What syncs
Data Flow & Synchronization
The Notion connection acts as a read-only integration. Verabase pulls the text formatting, layout blocks, and database property values from authorized folders. The data synchronization details include:
- Data Read: Page titles, body text, layout block components (headers, lists, tables), and database columns.
- Data Written: None. Verabase does not create, modify, or delete blocks in your Notion workspace.
- Sync Frequency: Ingested nodes sync automatically on a 6-hour scheduler. Agents can also trigger a manual refresh on-demand from the Source Explorer.
Scope & Limits
To maintain performance, the following guidelines and boundaries are enforced for Notion workspaces:
- Supported Content: Text blocks, headers, bulleted/numbered lists, inline links, code blocks, and simple table elements.
- Exclusions: Database formulas, rollup relations, external widgets, and private embedded comments are ignored.
- Workspace Limits: Maximum of 10,000 blocks or pages per workspace root. File attachments (images/files) exceeding 50MB inside Notion pages are bypassed during OCR grounding.
Setup guide
Select Notion in Source settings
In your Verabase dashboard, navigate to Knowledge → Add Source and select Notion. Refer to the Notion Search API Reference for details on how data indexing is authorized.
Authorize Workspace Connection
Click Connect Notion to redirect to the Notion login portal. Select the workspace you want to link from the dropdown menu. If you are building custom automations, you can also manage private connection credentials via the Notion My Integrations Dashboard.
Configure Access Scopes
Select which pages and sub-databases Verabase can access. Click Select Pages and select the checkbox next to each document tree branch. Refer to the Notion Block Retrieval API Reference to see how block children are fetched.
Authorize & Ingest
Click Allow Access. You will be redirected back to the Verabase dashboard, and the ingestion process will launch immediately. You can view the status and index logs in the Source Explorer.
Where it shows up
Once linked, Notion resources are displayed within these panels:
- Source Explorer: Appears as a connected repository displaying the directory tree layout, last synchronization timestamp, total count of crawled page blocks, and status indicators.
- Live Inbox Reference: When an agent generates responses from Notion data, citations and links to the source Notion pages appear inside the details panel active chat window.
Troubleshooting & Common Issues
- Sync Expiry: Notion integration tokens expire if the administrator revokes integration access in their Notion workspace settings. To fix, go to Knowledge → Notion → Settings and click Re-authenticate Connection.
- Missing Pages: If newly added pages do not sync, verify that the page resides inside a tree branch that was authorized in Step 3. Otherwise, use Notion's 'Add connections' menu inside the page settings to share it manually.
